Who let the dogs out? (Scott)

Dog lovers who want to take their pooch to the beach are in the midst of a trial run to do just that. The Hollywood City Commission approved a 60-day trial period (August 31-October 28) that will allow dogs on a designated place on the beach Friday, Saturday and Sundays from 5 p.m.-9 p.m. The approved area is Pershing and Custer streets.

The good part about this is during the probation period, fees for allowing the dogs are covered by donations. This is why its important to contribute a few bucks to the cause and spread the word. There will be a charge determined if all goes well after October 28. On the surface you may ask yourself why do you have to pay to walk your dog on the beach, but "apparently" they need someone on site to watch, do additional maintenance and cleanup.

However, this doesn't mean leave your pooper scoopers and bags at home. There are also a number of rules that must be followed in order for the program to continue. That information can be found by clicking on the surfing dog.
